How the score works

The checker scores your words on five measures, the same way every time:

  • 25 ptsOpening. Do your first two sentences say what you do and for whom, before anything else?
  • 25 ptsEvidence. Does it state results, scale, or figures, such as budgets, teams, clients, and outcomes?
  • 20 ptsField and level. Does the wording signal your field and the seniority you want?
  • 15 ptsSearchable terms. Does it name the systems, methods, and qualifications a recruiter would search for?
  • 15 ptsClutter. Does it avoid empty claims such as “highly motivated”, “detail-oriented”, and “team player”?

The score judges your words alone, against the same measures every time. Use it to decide what to fix first.

A resume summary scored 18 before and 78 after the facts went in
Composite example. Both scores come from the checker above.

What a high-scoring summary holds

Three or four sentences usually do it: your field and level, the scale you work at, one result with a figure, and the systems or qualifications the role asks for. Close with the role you want.

Adjectives such as “dedicated” and “hard-working” give a recruiter nothing to count. The buzzwords guide shows what to write in their place.

Questions

Is the resume summary checker free?

Yes. No account and no email address. You can run it up to 20 times a day.

Does Profile Upgrade keep my summary?

No. Your text goes to the analysis service for scoring, and Profile Upgrade keeps no copy. No account, no email address, no cookie.

Does it work for a CV as well as a resume?

Yes. It reads any opening summary, whatever you call the document.

Will the rewrite invent results?

No. Where your summary states no result, the rewrite leaves a highlighted prompt for you to fill with a real one.

Can it check my whole resume?

Yes. Step 3 takes your summary into the free full scan, which scores your whole CV or LinkedIn profile and quotes every line that undersells you.

One part scored; the rest of your profile decides the shortlist. The free full scan scores your whole LinkedIn profile or CV out of 100, quotes every line that undersells you, and rewrites three of them. The full rewrite covers your headline, About section, and three latest roles, with your score up 15 points or to 90, or your money back.
