Free LinkedIn About Section Checker
Recruiters read your About section straight after your headline, and LinkedIn shows only its opening lines until they click “see more”. Paste yours below for a score out of 100, the weakness costing you most, and a stronger opening built from your own facts.
Step 1 of 3 · 30 seconds
How does your About section score?
Paste your LinkedIn About section, or the summary at the top of your CV, and pick the role you want below. Your score appears in seconds, with a stronger opening.
No account, no email. Profile Upgrade saves nothing you paste.
How the score works
The checker scores your words on five measures, the same way every time:
- 25 ptsOpening. Do your first two sentences say what you do and for whom, before anything else?
- 25 ptsEvidence. Does it state results, scale, or figures, such as budgets, teams, clients, and outcomes?
- 20 ptsField and level. Does the wording signal your field and the seniority you want?
- 15 ptsSearchable terms. Does it name the methods, tools, sectors, and roles a recruiter would search for?
- 15 ptsClutter. Does it avoid empty claims such as “proven track record”, “passionate”, and “team player”?
The score judges your words alone, against the same measures every time. Use it to decide what to fix first.

What a high-scoring About section holds
Open with who you are and whom you serve, in one or two plain sentences. Then give the problems you solve as concrete examples with figures, name the methods and tools you use, and close with how to reach you.
Put your strongest fact in those opening lines. The About section guide sets out a four-paragraph pattern with examples.
Questions
Is the About section checker free?
Yes. No account and no email address. You can run it up to 20 times a day.
Does Profile Upgrade keep my About section?
No. Your text goes to the analysis service for scoring, and Profile Upgrade keeps no copy. No account, no email address, no cookie.
How long can a LinkedIn About section be?
LinkedIn allows up to 2,600 characters. The checker reads up to 3,000, so paste the whole section.
Can I check the summary from my CV instead?
Yes. The checker reads the summary at the top of a CV or resume the same way. The resume summary checker is worded for it.
Will the rewrite invent results?
No. Where your text states no result, the rewrite leaves a highlighted prompt for you to fill with a real one.
One part scored; the rest of your profile decides the shortlist. The free full scan scores your whole LinkedIn profile or CV out of 100, quotes every line that undersells you, and rewrites three of them. The full rewrite covers your headline, About section, and three latest roles, with your score up 15 points or to 90, or your money back.
